Volunteering Expectations

WE ALL NEED EACH OTHER... SELKIRKS ARE A PARENT-RUN CLUB!

Active family involvement.  As a non-profit organization, the Selkirks Swim Club relies heavily on the efforts of volunteers. The statement “commitment, teamwork and excellence are embraced” applies to the entire team, even those working behind the scenes to ensure a strong and successful club. Families are encouraged to be actively involved. The existence of a strong culture of volunteerism is something that the BC government considers when it decides the level of gaming support it will provide to the club.

There are many volunteer roles that are available and the higher the level of family participation from the membership the more successful the club will be.

Each season the club hosts at least one major swim meet and multiple other fund raising and social events. To ensure success we need every member to participate Please help us develop our Selkirk pride and at the same time work to keep our costs down.

How will volunteering benefit my child?  Besides showing your child that you care support their interest in swimming, working at our swim meet and fundraising events helps to  offset the funds necessary to run the club (ie. lower fees!).

Can other members of my family volunteer?  Yes, we love to have Aunts, Uncles, Grandparents and Friends helping out!
