About Us

Mission Statement

The Columbia Shuswap Selkirks Swim Club is committed  to developing through training and competition the potential of all swimmers, from novice to advanced, in an environment that fosters individual excellence while developing a strong, cohesive sense of team.  The club promotes swimming as a lifelong sport and seeks to not only develop swimming potential, but also skills for life such as sportsmanship, confidence and leadership.

The Columbia-Shuswap Selkirk Swim Club is comprised of swimmers from the CSRD which includes the communities of Revelstoke, Sicamous, Salmon Arm, Tappen, and Sorrento.  As a SwimBC sanctioned entity, the organization provides affordable access to pre-competitive and competitive swimming for youth.  The club operates out of Salmon Arm Recreation Centre with a full complement of certified coaches and trained officials.  The Selkirks are governed by a non-profit society – the CSRD Youth Swimming Society. Volunteers, donations and fundraising activities are essential components to the success of the club.

  • Is affordable; and most of all

  • Is fun

Active Family Involvement

As a non-profit organization, Columbia Shuswap Selkirk Swim Club relies heavily on the efforts of volunteers. The statement “commitment, teamwork and excellence are embraced” applies not just to the athletes but also to the team working behind the scenes to ensure a strong and successful club. Families will be encouraged to be actively involved in the club. The existence of a strong culture of volunteerism is also something that the BC government considers when it decides the level of gaming support it will provide to the club.

There are many volunteer roles that are available and the higher the level of family participation from the membership the more successful the club will be. The Board of Directors will work towards establishing the following:

·       Social/fundraising committee

·       Swim meet committee

·       New member liaison group

·       Provision of adequate opportunities for parents to train as an official.
